SME Review Workflow for The Health Feed
The Project
What I Did
Results
Ask Media Group wanted to expand its presence in the wellness and health space with The Health Feed, a site offering accessible, trustworthy medical information. However, to maintain credibility and meet Google’s E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness) standards, every article needed expert medical review. The challenge was to design an efficient editorial system that could scale production while ensuring every piece of content met rigorous medical accuracy and compliance standards.
As project manager and editorial lead, I developed a subject matter expert (SME) review workflow that connected Ask Media Group’s editorial team with a panel of credentialed nurses and physicians. I mapped out each stage of the process—from content assignment and SME pairing to fact-checking, revision, and publication—and documented it in detailed SOPs to ensure consistency and accountability. I led onboarding sessions for both internal editors and external medical reviewers, built collaborative templates to streamline feedback, and oversaw quality control for all published articles. I also partnered with product and engineering teams to integrate the workflow into the company’s CMS, allowing editors to flag content requiring medical review and track approvals in real time.
Launched a scalable medical review workflow that supported the publication of 400+ medically verified articles in the first six months.
Improved content production efficiency by 30%, reducing average turnaround time from draft to publication.
Strengthened The Health Feed’s content credibility, leading to a 55% increase in organic traffic and higher Google Discover visibility.
Established long-term partnerships with 12 credentialed SMEs, creating a reliable review network for ongoing content.
The workflow and documentation I created have since been adopted across other Ask Media Group health and lifestyle properties as a model for expert-verified content.
